Naturopathy
Feeling good has never been so easy!
Naturopathy is one of the oldest systems
of healing, offering a gentle natural wisdom empowering you
to heal from within.
A Naturopath takes a detailed case history
and then spends some time working out the cause of your particular
health concern. For instance, if you have regular headaches,
rather than just prescribing something that will ease the
pain, a naturopath will investigate what is causing the problem.
The cause could be anything from dehydration to stress or
an under-functioning liver. The solution involves addressing
the underlying cause.
The Naturopath’s aim is to help people achieve
their optimum health through dietary improvements, lifestyle
changes and treatment with herbs and supplements, if necessary.
Depending on the severity and chronicity of your complaints
you will usually visit every month or 6 weeks until improvements
are well established.
Naturopathy uses an array of therapeutic
treatments including herbal medicine, nutrition, dietary and
lifestyle advice, detox treatments, flower essences, tissue
salts, allergy testing, iridology and more.
Eat your way to optimum health with nutritional therapy…
Good nutrition is the key to optimum health and vitality.
Health problems and low energy are often caused by a poor
diet. Naturopaths help identify problematic foods and nutritional
weaknesses in your diet, encourage you to break old eating
habits and replace them with a uniquely tailored diet.
Western Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is the oldest and most widely practiced form
of medicine worldwide; 80% of the world’s population rely
on herbs for health. Prescribed most commonly in liquid/tincture
form, herbal formulations can be used for anything from digestive
to immune system problems. My training as a herbalist means
that, if necessary, your treatment plan can include a combination
of up to 6 different herbs in one mix, individually selected
for you. Herbs are commonly used to treat acute conditions
such as coughs, colds and urinary tract infections. They can
also be used on a more long term basis to build up immunity,
support liver and digestive function, nurture and repair the
nervous system and help us cope better with stress.
What to expect from your Naturopathic Consultation…
In the initial consultation I will evaluate your current health
and nutritional status by taking a detailed case history,
as well as using some diagnostic tools such as iridology and
Touch for Health. Naturally, complete confidentiality is guaranteed.
I will also take your blood pressure and do a few simple examinations
of pulse. Based on this I will make detailed dietary and lifestyle
recommendations, and may include a herb mix or some supplements
as part of your treatment plan. I will also estimate how many
treatments will be required and how often you may need to
attend. Most clients benefit from lasting improvements to
their health and vitality after implementing the treatment
plan.
What can be treated?
Conditions that respond well include low energy & vitality,
digestive disorders, weight issues, depression, anxiety ,
insomnia & stress, high cholesterol, diabetes, skin problems,
heart disease, ADD, ADHD, asthma, eczema, hayfever, allergies,
PMT, urinary tract infections, colds, flu, poor immunity,
and many more! Whether you are suffering from an acute or
chronic condition, naturopathy can help strengthen your body’s
healing response to it and speed up recovery!
About the Practitioner - Rhoda Kingston
Rhoda was sick with debilitating asthma for many of her teenage
years. Doctors were concerned that her prognosis was not good.
At best they predicted she would be in a wheelchair on a ventilator
by the age of thirty! Yet, happily, with dietary changes and
treatment with various herbs, supplements and homeopathic
remedies over the years, she is now in good health with minimal
medication. As a result she has great empathy for people suffering
from any illness and it is her life's goal to help as many
people as possible to achieve better health. Rhoda has an
Advanced Diploma in Nutrition, an Advanced Diploma in Herbal
Medicine and a Bachelor of Health Science Degree in Naturopathy
from ACNM (Australian College of Natural Medicine). She has
studied some Homeopathy as part of the degree in Naturopathy
and is currently studying Touch for Health (kinesiology).
Rhoda is registered with the Irish Association of Naturopaths.
